Ethnic silver earrings N°67
This slightly convex disc with this star pattern is a traditional piece of the ethnic groups of the golden triangle, which often adorns clothing in place of buttons. Made without casting, in solid, pure silver. The buckle is cut out, punched freehand, embossed and patinated. The motif is an eight-pointed star, which is often found among Southeast Asian ethnic groups including the Han in China for millennia. Very protective form, it generally represents the solar star and its rays. But among the Miao, it evokes the myth of creation and symbolizes, through the cogwheels used on old looms, the "Weaver Mother" of the origins.
