Silver Hmong padlock necklace N°62
Handcrafted necklace in solid silver, made up of two macramé links of waxed cotton threads over which are passed handmade beads in solid silver, and a pendant in the shape of a padlock, decorated with freehand punched tribal motifs. The Hmong padlock and the beads are patinated to reveal the beautiful work of the craftsman and reinforce the ancestral side of this highly spiritual jewel.
For the Hmong, or Miao, as they are called in China, a person's body has several souls. During an illness, physical or psychological, it is one or more souls that move away from the body. After a soul-calling ceremony, the shaman then hands over a padlock that retains the soul, thus protecting the person wearing it.
