The fish, in Asia and for many other civilizations, is a symbol of fertility, fecundity, abundance and prosperity. It is also often served to the newlyweds during the wedding meal among the ethnic groups of the golden triangle. "Its representation as a pair is the most common and comes from India. The two fish originally represented the two Indian rivers, the Ganga and the Yamuna.
