The serpent is generally associated with the fertility of the soil, because in the spring, it leaves the underground world, just like plants. It symbolizes the renewal of the seasons, the eternal restart. It is also represented by a double spiral. The Karen people are an original animist, they respect and celebrate the spirit of insects, animals, plants, etc.
